VBS 2011: Big Apple Adventure
VBS 2011, The Big Apple Adventure, was a great week for FBC Henryville. Each year in churches all around the United States and the world Vacation Bible School’s continue to be used by God to reach children and shape their understanding of Jesus Christ. Countless testimonies speak to the influence these weeks have had in the lives of so many children, teenagers, and adults. It is no wonder that VBS has been called the most important week of the year for a local church. That sentence is certainly true for the children and adults who were involved this last week here at First Baptist.
On July 11-15, 2011 children and workers gathered in the evenings for times of worship, Bible study, and lots of fun. The theme this year found us in the towering skyscraper jungle of New York City as we learned to navigate the streets of God’s plan and purposes for our lives. Children were encouraged to center their lives on the gospel as we unpacked Romans 10:17 – “So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.” Children (and adults) spent the week learning to make the message about Christ the foundation for every aspect of their lives as they “hear it, believe it, and connect it” (VBS Motto).
We want to thank everyone who worked, gave, and especially prayed for this very important week. Truly only God knows the lives that were changed through this incredible week. As we continue to thank God for what he has done, begin now to pray for next year’s VBS and the continuing spread of the gospel to the children and adults of Henryville and the rest of the world.
