AWANA
First Baptist Church Henryville is committed to families – to working with and for families to grow parents and children into faithful followers of Jesus who are committed to building their lives on the truth(s) of the Bible. One of the ways we seek to serve families is through our Awana Ministry. Awana stands for “approved workmen are not ashamed,” and it is a ministry which seeks to immerse children in the Bible by helping them know it and apply it to their lives. It is part Boy/Girl Scouts and part Vacation Bible School, and its overall goal is to train children to be faithful followers of Jesus Christ.
FBC Henryville’s Awana Clubs meet every Sunday evening at 6:15 pm for children in pre-through sixth grade during the school year (September – May). In addition to Awana for children, FBC Henryville also offers a time of worship and Bible study for adults while the children are meeting in their Awana Clubs. Each school year our pastoral team leads our church on Sunday evenings through a study that seeks to apply the Bible to all of life. During the 2010-2011 AWANA year we saw how the Bible applies to our families and marriages in a series entitled Gospel Centered Homes: Following Christ for the Life of Your Family. When Awana begins again in September 2011, we will enter a series for adults entitled The Dance of Discipleship: Learning the Steps of Growing in Faith. Throughout the year we will be talking honestly about the big questions of being a follower of Jesus: How do we read and understand the Bible? What is prayer? Why and how should we be involved in a local church? How do we talk about our faith? We will be walking through the Bible seeking to understand the nuts and bolts of a life that follows Jesus.
We hope that you and your family will be involved with FBC Henryville on Sunday evenings! Regardless of your age, it is the place to be on Sunday nights!!!
