Lets get this party started!!!!!!!

Aug 27th, 2009 | By | Category: Featured

That’s right we are having a back to school bash this Friday at Ron and Sherry’s.  There is gonna be a bond fire, music, preaching, eating, and drinking (cokes, tea, NO ALCOHOL).  Youth of Henryville School are being invited by our youth so we are really looking forward to seeing what God does.  We have a great speaker coming to preach to them.  Please be in prayer about the back to school bash.  We would love to have any of you adults come and help with chaperoning, or you could help me keep Ron from falling in the fire.

This party is a precurrsor to the speaker we have coming to the school in September.  It is just amazing to see how God is opening up doors for us to reach our community.  Please continue to pray for Eric Ramsey as he prepares to come and speak to the school.  As you read in the last post, God answers prayers.  Pray that God will open hearts and use us to make His name great in Henryville.  God said trough Malachi, “from the rising of the sun to its setting My name shall be great among the nations.”  That’s what we want!  The name of our God to be great among the people of  Henryville.  We want them to honor and worship the King of Kings, the Lord of Lord’s.  Jesus Christ!!

Please contiue to pray for our mission trip to India as well.  I hope all of you are excited about the fact that we are taking the gospel to our community and to the nations.  That’s what it means to be a great commision church.  I know as your pastor I am excited to see us doing the work of the ministry.  I really can’t wait to see what else God is going to do with us as the months and years role on.

Pray for me, as I prepare to preach God’s Word on Sunday, that God would give me the words that you need to hear, and pray for yourselves that God would open your hearts to hear, believe, and obey His words.

Your pastor,

Toby

It’s a Miracle!!!

Everyone has been praying for Henry Gillie because he was diagnosed with lung cancer a few weeks ago.  They did a biopsy on his lymph nodes in his lungs to see if the nodes had cancer in them because the PET scan show it his nodes were a  hot spot.  Well, the praise is that yesterday they found his lymph nodes to be free of cancer.  However, they still were going to do the surgery Thursday to remove the spot of cancer, but today they did a biopsy of the spot of cancer which also showed up on the PET scan.  Well, when they got in there to look they could not find the cancer.  They went back again to make sure and it was not there anymore. They were amazed and even went back to look at the old test and sure enough the cancer was there on the old test, but after looking again they told Henry and Barbra it wasn’t there anymore and sent them home.

I was at the hospital with Henry and Barbara today before he went to the biopsy this evening, but I never expected to see them in church this evening and hear them say the cancer was gone.  It was so moving to look at him teared up and tell me the cancer was gone.  They are so excited and the whole church rejoiced with them tonight.  God answers prayer.

What an awesome God we serve.  He is a God who loves us and cares about us more than we care about ourselves.  We don’t deserve Him.  But thank God He doesn’t give us what we deserve.  What a Savior, What a Savior!

Because of the Lamb,

Toby

Wow! Thanks!

I just want to say thank you for the great response to the post on “Help Wanted” and also the overwhelming response after Church on Sunday.  I can’t wait to see what God is going to do through this evangelistic work.  Please continue to pray that God opens their hearts. And be praying Friday night for all those who will be attending the back to school bash.

I am just so excited to see God moving and working amongst our people.  I’m so blessed that God would allow me to be here to be a part of what He is doing in Henryville. Wednesday I’ll be meeting at the association with pastors from our area, and they will be praying for our church.  They pick a different church each month, and we are the church they are praying for this month.  I can’t wait to meet all of them.

Please continue to pray for me that God would give me the words that He would have me to preach to you.

In Christ,

Toby Jenkins

HELP WANTED!!!

Aug 20th, 2009 | By | Category: Featured

I really need everyone’s help for the evangelistic outreach into Henryville School.  Our speaker Eric Ramsey will be speaking to the Junior High, and High school on September 21, in the morning.  At the end of his presentation he will be inviting them to come to FBC at 6:30 where they will hear about the most important decision they will ever make.  Then on Tuesday he will speak to the elementary and invite them back to FBC and present the gospel to them.

Now here is where I need you.  You all ask me what I would do to reach the students in the school before you called me, and I told you I didn’t know for sure. But I assured you that I would find a way to get in the school.  Well, God in His grace has given us favor by opening up the way to get a speaker in the school.  Now I need your help to make this happen.  Eric says if we advertise this right we will have  atleast a hundred students every night.  That means we are gonna need lots of help.  Lots of pizza, hot dogs, and ice cream.  I need artist to make fliers and poster.  I need you!!  We are having a meeting after the morning service this Sunday and will have a sign up sheet for you to pick an area you want to serve. I need envelope stuffers.  That’s people to put the fliers in envelopes and write addresses.  Someone has already donated the stamps all I need now is your spit.  Come use your spit for the glory of God.

Tomorrow, Friday the 21st we are decorating our float for the community parade.  If its dry we will start the decorating at 6:30 @ my house.  If it is raining we are going to start the decorating at 6:30 @ Charlies’ barn.  Everyone is invited to come and help.  Also you are invited to bring your children to ride on the float.

Now I must get to studying.  I am so far behind its not funny.  Pray for God to open my eyes to the message He wants me to preach, and pray that He anoint me to preach it to you His bride.

In Christ,

Toby

Fellowshipping with friends

Aug 18th, 2009 | By | Category: Featured

It’s been really good to get to spend some time with our friends from Mississippi.  I want to thank all of you for being so kind to them.  They have really been enjoying being here in Indiana.  Joey went to the Louisville Bat game with us and had a blast, except for the part where  the drunk guy paid for me to out pitch him.  I only beat him by one mile an hour.  But Eric made us all look like 3rd graders, when he pitched one 75 miles an hour.  Which was, I hate to admit, 10mph faster than me and 11mph faster than Joey.  I took Joey to school with me today and he sat in on classes.  He loved it!!

Its back to school tomorrow.  I just wanted to write a post tonight and let you all know that I’m praying for ya and can’t wait to see you all tomorrow night.

In Christ,

Toby

Back to School!!!!

Aug 13th, 2009 | By | Category: Featured

Is it that time already?  I feel like we just started the summer, but the cheese wagons are sending up the smoke signals through our community that its time to start back to school.  In all seriousness, I hope that all of you are having a good week back at school, and parents I hope you are not enjoying the fact that the kids are back in school.

Speaking of school, I’m really excited about what we have planned for reaching into the school this year.  I’m in the works of getting on the schedule to preach at FCA.  I want to plead with all of you to be in prayer for Eric Ramsey who will be  speaking in the school this year.  He is going to speak at the school on Monday September 21 at 9:45 am, then will be preaching at our church Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights starting at 6:30.  Be praying that God would open the hearts of the students @ Henryville.

Be praying for me as I am studying to preach the Word this Sunday.  I’m preaching in John 2:13-…. where Jesus makes a whip and cleans out the temple.  Wow!  I can’t even imagine what that must have been like.  What do you think those folks were thinking when He starting flipping over tables and crying out, “you’ve turned My Fathers house into a den for thieves.  They were thinking,”who does this guy think He is?”.  They asked, “What sign do you show us for doing these things?”.  Tear down this temple and in three days I will rebuild it.  It had to have been something that impressed them because after this story with have Nicodemus coming to Him saying, Rabbi we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do the signs that you do unless God be with Him.  I hope you will be here Sunday to hear God speak through His Word on this subject.  I know I can’t wait!

Wednesday night we looked at Psalms 16, and I keep thinking about the things we talked about.  We are His delight.  Hard to fathom that He would take delight in me.  I deserve much worse than a whip; yet In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the richness of His grace, which He lavished upon us. Ephesians 1:7-8a.  Did you hear that He lavishes upon us the richness of His grace.  Wow!! What a Savior, What a Savior.  Really!  Who is so great a God as our God?  Jesus asked Peter and the disciples, “Will you leave me too?  Peter says, why would we?  Where would we go? For you have the words of eternal life.  Why would any of us not cleave to Him with every ounce of our being?

Because of the Lamb,

Toby

God is so good

Aug 9th, 2009 | By | Category: Featured

What a wonderful Lords day we had again this Sunday.  It’s so good to see how God is moving and working in the lives of our people.  It just so exciting to see the flock of God growing in grace.  Everyone seems happy and excited about what God is doing in our Church.  I want to encourage all of you to keep inviting people to church and telling them about what God is doing in the life of our Church, and I want to encourage you to give glory to God for all that is happening in our Church.  As your pastor, I just want to tell you that I’m so proud of you and the work that you are doing to spread the gospel in our community and to the nations.

Unity has been priority number one to me in the body of FBC Henryville, and I’m excited to see that this is happening.  Its a sign that we are the children of God because we have love for one another.  Please continue to pray for each other and for me as I study to preach God’s Word to you.  Also pray for all of our children as they start school this week.  I know its exciting to my children, but at the same time they are still nervous about going to public school for the first time.  Also be in prayer for the back to school bash August 28.

Also, I want to encourage you to invite people to come to our Gospel singing with the Sunny Side gospel group.  There will be smoked chicken before the singing down in the fellowship hall.  So please come and invite people to come and tell them that all the proceeds will go toward sending our church to India.

Another note about the sermon audio: We finally got it working again thanks to my great friend Jason Fowler.  We learned tons of stuff about the website that you will see really soon.  So keep coming back and seeing the changing face of the website.  The last two sermons in the John series will be uploaded this week, but we  have loaded all the others that we were having problems loading.  Thanks for being patient with me as I’m learning how to operate a website.

Pray for our Latchkey day school as we will have orientation tomorrow.  I’m really excited to finally have the daycare restructured.  I want to thank the deacons, Mrs. Linda, and my precious wife who has typed her little fingers to the bone this summer.  I really believe that God is going to use this ministry of our church to reach our community.  So please be in prayer for Mrs. Linda and the teachers as they begin this year of school.

Your pastor,

Toby
